Medical Interview Techniques – GAMSAT

GAMSAT Flow

The Medical Interview is as important as the written exam to receiving an offer, yet it can easily be overlooked. Some universities weight the interviews at more than 50% of the total selection criteria (as an example the interview weighting at Monash is 60%. Click on the GAMSAT Exam Criteria link to view the interview weightings at all universities). The tertiary health sector interview process involves you presenting your credentials in a way that you are unlikely to have had to do in the past. In essence, your life experiences, your ethics & values, your decision-making processes, and your personality are all on display. Being able to clearly and concisely demonstrate your suitability for your chosen medical field of study while under time pressure, will be critical if you are to progress successfully through the final stage of the selection process and receive an offer.
